The Art Barn
At the heart of the day service is our supported art studio that has earned an international reputation for excellence. It is equipped with a wide array of materials, enabling people of all abilities to express themselves and discover their creative voices. The centre is staffed by trained, qualified artists who follow a non-intervention approach, encouraging and nurturing the talents of each individual.

At the heart of Barrington Farm lies the Art Barn supported studio, a vibrant space where artists of all abilities are encouraged to express themselves and discover their unique voice through creativity. Established in 1988, this converted barn provides facilities for a wide range of artistic media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, woodworking, sculpture and textiles. Located in Walcott on the picturesque North Norfolk coast, the studio is open every weekday year-round (excluding public holidays).
The Art Barn is staffed by practicing artists who support and guide, rather than teach or instruct. This approach fosters an environment where artists are empowered to make their own creative choices and explore their emotional connections to their chosen materials.
The centre also provides professional support for artists to exhibit, sell and increase the visibility of their diverse and ambitious contemporary artwork. Opportunities to visit galleries, attend art events and take part in residencies, projects and workshops are also available. Over the years, artists who attend Barrington Farm have been showcased locally, nationally and internationally, and the Art Barn has earned a reputation as a centre of excellence in the art community
The RoaR Archive at Barrington Farm preserves and protects over 1000 works by self-taught artists who have attended the Art Barn over the past 35+ years. It also includes a resource library and is available for viewing by appointment.
Every year Barrington Farm hosts an Open Studios event. This free event gives artists the chance to showcase their work, demonstrate their creative processes, meet the public and sell original artworks directly from the Art Barn.
